Saunders must not be allowed to take possession of the
elephants
1 August 1999: An eyewitness reports that Craig Saunders was personally involved in at least one beating of a baby elephant - "Baby" - at
AGS. The NSPCA monitor, Karen Moller, further reports Saunders
telling the students at AGS "the only way to teach these
elephants is to hit them". It would appear as though
Saunder, now suddenly turned elephant training expert, wanted to
make very sure that he was going to give "sanctuary" to
abused elephants, by contributing to their abuse in a very
hands-on manner. DON'T LET HIM LAY HIS FILTHY HANDS ON THE
ELEPHANTS OR ANY OTHER ANIMAL. THIS MAN IS EVIL!!!!

As you recall, Ghiazza
described Saunders' property as "a wonderful
place" - and we all know the type of facility Ghiazza
approves of!

1999: Elephants of Saunders after all just a personal money
machine -
360% mark-up to relinquish
"ownership"...... So much for his "sanctuary for
abused elephants" statement!!! A very reliable source
revealed that Saunders claimed the initial R750,000 was a
"deposit" only, and in a
Pretoria News report Saunders justifies the
mark-up is to "reimburse him for the infrastructure"
set-up for this "ecotourism" ventured - previously he
called this an "education park"....... This is the same
man who said in a Carte Blanche follow-up program: "after
extensive reading on training methods, I found the Indonesian
(mahout) method to be the softest" and "I will be happy
to let them go" (if the animal welfare organization can
assure him the elephants will be better off in the wild). Did he
"forget" to add he will let them go only if the money
is right??? 9 ex-circus elephants, really in need of a home were
offered to Saunders but he refused the offer (wasn't offering a
safe haven for unwanted zoo and circus elephants one of the
reasons Saunders gave to justify his "petting zoo"????)
A reliable source said his wife made a statement: "the more
desperate people get to take the babies the higher the price will
go!!!"
